Minimal intervention and maximum expertise — particularly gentle and effective patient care

The Sportklinik Hellersen expands its range of services to include state-of-the-art endoscopic minimally invasive procedures

The Deutsches Wirbelsäulen- und Skoliosezentrum at the Sportklinik Hellersen continues to grow: since the middle of the year, the range of services has been expanded to include endoscopic minimally invasive spinal surgery. The Sportklinik Hellersen is thus specifically expanding its specialization in the field of special spinal surgery — with a procedure that is particularly tissue-sparing and patient-friendly.

In addition to the proven microscopically minimally invasive procedures on the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, state-of-the-art endoscopic techniques are also used. This means that herniated discs, nerve root compression, and spinal canal stenosis, among other conditions, can be treated endoscopically. The same applies to certain forms of vertebral slippage, degenerative scoliosis, and osteoporotic fractures of the spine — a decisive advance in the treatment of complex clinical pictures.

"The endoscopic procedure specifically complements our existing portfolio — it enables us to offer even gentler procedures for certain indications. Our interdisciplinary approach is crucial here: through close cooperation between specialized disciplines, we can guarantee individually tailored, high-quality treatment for each patient," says Dr. Oliver Meier, Chief for Special Spinal Surgery at the Deutsches Wirbelsäulen- und Skoliosezentrum at Sportklinik Hellersen. The Special Spinal Surgery team has been expanded with additional experienced senior physicians who work closely with the proven experts in the department specifically for this new procedure.

"This innovation is a strategic milestone for our clinic and, with this unique combination, gives us a pioneering role that is attracting national and international attention."

Dirk Burghaus,
Chairman of the Board of Sportklinik Hellersen

A major advantage of the endoscopic procedure is its gentle approach: a skin incision of only 8 millimeters is sufficient – muscles and stabilizing structures remain largely intact.

This innovation is a strategic milestone for our clinic and gives us a pioneering role in this unique combination, which is attracting national and international attention," says Dirk Burghaus, CEO of the Sportklinik Hellersen. “Today, patients are specifically looking for gentle but highly effective treatment methods. We offer them a modern solution – and at the same time strengthen our role as a specialized center for spinal and scoliosis surgery.”
